Well the results are in, and Raymond 4-Hers have done themselves proud, once again!
Savannah submitted our FIRST EVER, Secretary's book in time for judging and was awarded 3rd medalist.
Jessie acquired our FIRST EVER, COUNTY WINNER, with her Dog Record book.
Jordan and Savannah made us proud once again, by medalling in the toughest of all the categories, Horse, they were 1st and 5th medalists, respectively.
Remember the judges don't have to award you a medal, if your book is not worthy, so ANY medal is a great testament to the quality of your book. Not too shabby for our "Little" club.
Very proud of all of them!!

CA State 4-H Horse Classic 2011
Well, we practiced and tested and practiced some more. Then suddenly May 27 was here, and we were on our way to Davis. U.C. Davis was the venue, this year for the State 4-H Horse Classic Educational Contests. We had decided we would drive up Friday afternoon, so we wouldn't have to leave sooooo early Saturday morning to be there at 8 am. So off we went, after an uneventful drive, we had dinner in Stockton, and arrived at our destination around 8 pm. The "luxurious"(NOT) Motel 6 that the 4-H had contracted with.
Silly us thinking it would be an early night, with 5 tween/teen girlies in 2 motel rooms....
We were up at 5:30 and out the door to the first of the contests by by 7:30 though!! :) They started off Saturday with the Hippology portion of the contest. Including the Written test, slides, and stations. Then an hour luch break and on into the judging portion of the contest. Where they had 6 halter and performance classes to judge. All, however on video this year, due to the concerns with the EHV-1 virus.
At 6:30 pm Christine was first on the roster with her demonstration "Trenzar" - she did a wonderful job and was later awarded a first in demonstrations!
We took off, found a cute little Taqueria, around the corner, had some dinner (yummy, I might add) and headed back over for the awards that were supposed to be at 8:30 p.m. But, they were running a little behind.....
Finally, around 9:15 pm. the awards presentation got started. Now, let me inject this "little disclaimer" right here: There were twice as many contestants this year, as opposed to last. :)
Our girls came out with twenty one top ten placings! The Third Hi junior team in Judging, and the 2nd Hi team in hippology!
Then we went back for more on Sunday - (a 1/2 hour EARLY, because I didn't double check the schedule)our very first attempt at Horse Bowl. WHOOOO! was grueling..BUT! we ended up in third place!

Favorite Foods Day 2011
Five Raymond 4-H'ers attended the Madera County 4-H Favorite Foods Day, held January 22 in Chowchilla. There were many GREAT dishes on hand. All of our kids participated in Consumer Science Judging and Showmanship, and all of them came home with blue ribbons to boot! Hana, Ryan and Riley received perfect scores on their entries. Jessie's cake placed second in the "made from a mix" and Jordan placed second in Intermediate Consumer Science Judging.
GREAT JOB EVERYONE!
