COUNTY RECORD BOOK JUDGING RESULTS

Well the results are in, and Raymond 4-Hers have done themselves proud, once again!

Savannah submitted our FIRST EVER, Secretary's book in time for judging and was awarded 3rd medalist.

Jessie acquired our FIRST EVER, COUNTY WINNER, with her Dog Record book.

Jordan and Savannah made us proud once again, by medalling in the toughest of all the categories, Horse, they were 1st and 5th medalists, respectively.

Remember the judges don't have to award you a medal, if your book is not worthy, so ANY medal is a great testament to the quality of your book.   Not too shabby for our "Little" club.

Very proud of all of them!!

CA State 4-H Horse Classic 2011

Well, we practiced and tested and practiced some more. Then suddenly May 27 was here, and we were on our way to Davis. U.C. Davis was the venue, this year for the State 4-H Horse Classic Educational Contests. We had decided we would drive up Friday afternoon, so we wouldn't have to leave sooooo early Saturday morning to be there at 8 am. So off we went, after an uneventful drive, we had dinner in Stockton, and arrived at our destination around 8 pm. The "luxurious"(NOT) Motel 6 that the 4-H had contracted with.
Silly us thinking it would be an early night, with 5 tween/teen girlies in 2 motel rooms....
We were up at 5:30 and out the door to the first of the contests by by 7:30 though!! :) They started off Saturday with the Hippology portion of the contest. Including the Written test, slides, and stations. Then an hour luch break and on into the judging portion of the contest. Where they had 6 halter and performance classes to judge. All, however on video this year, due to the concerns with the EHV-1 virus.
At 6:30 pm Christine was first on the roster with her demonstration "Trenzar" - she did a wonderful job and was later awarded a first in demonstrations!
We took off, found a cute little Taqueria, around the corner, had some dinner (yummy, I might add) and headed back over for the awards that were supposed to be at 8:30 p.m. But, they were running a little behind.....

Finally, around 9:15 pm. the awards presentation got started. Now, let me inject this "little disclaimer" right here: There were twice as many contestants this year, as opposed to last. :)
Our girls came out with twenty one top ten placings! The Third Hi junior team in Judging, and the 2nd Hi team in hippology!

Then we went back for more on Sunday - (a 1/2 hour EARLY, because I didn't double check the schedule)our very first attempt at Horse Bowl. WHOOOO! was grueling..BUT! we ended up in third place!

Now, not to brag any - but aren't they awesome!

Here are all the indivudual placings:

2010 Madera Fair Horse Show

After the show - everyone is in various stages of changing - getting comfy for the ride home. :) Jessie actually has her pants on under her 'jammies, a trick we have learned to keep pants cleaner before the show. I'm not sure what she was thinking here, but hey what do I know. Alexis and Savannah wasted NO time getting into their comfy clothes. Jordan, well she's always last, note the t-shirt in her hand...

Here they are! As they should be. Our group photo of the day!
They really are the BEST!
Alexis and Saffire (the only ones to make both days) won 5 firsts and 2 seconds in gymkhana, a first, a third and two fifths in the horse show, and the jr Gymkhana HIGH POINT!
Jessie and Babe won 1 first, 1 second, 2 thirds, and 2 fifths.
Savannah and Ringo ended the day with 2 firsts, 3 seconds, 2 fifths and the jr English HIGH POINT.
Jordan and Dollar brought home 2 firsts, a third and a fifth place ribbon for the day.....
Jessie, Jordan and Savannah will be showing their dogs this Saturday!

State 4H Horse Classic Educational Contest

On Saturday, April 24, we took 5 girls from Madera County 4H Clubs to the State 4H Horse Classic Educational Contests. They have been studying and practicing hard since the end of January in preparation for this contest. We left Coarsegold at 6:50 am and arrived at Reedley College just after 8:00 am. (after a small detour throught the Golden Arches DT) The girls got checked in and awaited the start of the hippology contestants meeting. They then proceeded on with the written test, stations, slides and team problem.
At 12:30 we made our way to the horse arena/ag pavilion area where the RC Ag dept BBQ'd hamburgers for lunch. At 1:30 they started with the judging contestants meeting, and moved right into the horse judging portion of the contest. The girls judged 7, yes, 7 classes - ranging from halter, to hunt seat equitation, to riening. That concluded at shortly after 6:00 pm., then we got about a 30 minute break, before the start of the demonstrations. We did not enter this portion of the contest, but had some friends who we wanted to watch. WOW, did we see some Awesome demonstrations!
L to R Christine, Savannah, Jordan, Jessie, Karah
During the evening break
Around 8:00 pm we began making our way back across campus to one of the classrooms, where the awards presentation was to take place. The girls (all of us, in fact) were quite tired. We were treated to a short slide presentation from the California Horse Classic team, about their trip to Denver, CO - where they took the National Championship!
Then the presentation of the awards for the day....

When all was said and done, the girls had collected 30 TOP TEN placings!
and OUR JUNIORS had WON HI-POINT JUNIOR TEAM
in both HIPPOLOGY AND HORSE JUDGING!!
Hippology team was: Savannah, Jordan and Christine
Horse Judging team was: Jessie, Jordan and Christine
( they take the 3 top individual scores, to make the team points)
And Karah learned that her tenth and eighth place finishes were just behind several of the team members who had just won the National Championship!
IS MADERA COUNTY AWESOME? OR WHAT?
Of Course, we already know Raymond 4H is Awesome!

Club members along with Ryan, Stacy S., Nancy and I braved the COOL temps tonight in order to visit with about 20 of our local "treasured" seniors, and give them some special homemade Hot Chocolate Mix. Ryan even came along to help the girls sing. Then we went in and had some hot chocolate, cookies and visiting. A fun time was had by all.
There are no other events planned for the rest of the year....
Our next meeting is January 18, 2010.
Wishing you all
